John Martyn Glory Box Tune Of The Week

John Martyn – Glory Box – Tune Of The Week

This week’s tune follows on where I last week left off. Last week I started listening to Portishead’s Roseland NYC Live show again and it reminded me of this cover version, which I heard on the soundtrack to Colombiana.

John Martyn sounds at once heartbroken, despondent and drunk on this cover of Portishead’s class track Glory Box.

The original is here (live version) for those interested

P.S. For those interested, the sample used in the Portishead original is from “Ike’s Rap” by Isaac Hayes
