Circus is taken off the album ‘North Borders’, the follow up to epic ‘Black Sands‘. After hearing ‘Circus’ for the first time, I immediately placed my pre-order for the album. Bonobo’s Circus follows up where ‘Eyes Down’ left off, but with some more pace in the drum line.

Black Sands boasted an amazing ensemble cast and delivered the phenom that is ‘Eyes Down’ with Andreya Triana on vocals (also one of my Top Ten Songs From 2012). Looking at the colab list for North Borders, this promises to be another amazing album, featuring performances from Szjerdene, Erykah Badu and Grey Reverend.

The short version:
Different from Bonobo’s previous work in that is not heavily laced with horns and drum fills. A lot more sparse, almost Oriental. Black Sands is a very, very good album.
