Justice – the new Daft Punk
Now of course, there can only truly be one band in shiny robotic suits making bleepy french dance music that rocks music globe. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t ANOTHER band out there that’s come as close as dammit to recreating the tones and textures that made me fall in love with DP’s music in the first place. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Justice.
Rocking the same electronically fuelled fuck you, its the kind of music that you can vibe to or get drunk to, possibly in that order. Needless to say, I’ve been digging the dinges out of these boys with Gauloise inspired sound. Rock on. Bleep. Squeek. And besides, you can’t now love a band that has P.YT as a lyric.

Throwback – my cure for homesickness
I’ve been in Costa Rica for a couple of weeks now, and I must admit – I’ve started to get a little home sick. The two things I really miss from back home are the food and the music. Costa Ricans aren’t big on soul music, and I’ve been jonesing to hear a little Marvin Gaye or a drop of Betty White. So, in an effort to feel a little more at home, I merged two of my favourite types of music – soul and house. The set is a throwback to some of my favourite old school tunes. While this may not be the most technically slick set I’ve ever put down (I have a small apartment and can’t make too much noise, so the mix is a little wobbly) it certainly did make me feel better, even if it does have a few warts.

I’ll try and find somewhere I can make a bit more noise so that I can put together something a little tidier soon. Have fun listening.
Wolfgang Gartner – Wolfgang’s Fifth
Tomorrow night I’ll be dropping my first set outside the borders of sunny SA here in San Jose. It’s at a new club called Karma and they manager said that they’re looking for Electro beats. Now while Electro isn’t really mind thing, I do need to get back in the booth, so it’s a start. While I was sifting through my tracks, I re-discovered this banger from Wolfgang Gartner. It’s a frenetic, high energy banger, and it’s insanely difficult to follow up after this, simply because the tune is so mental to start with. So, I think that this will be my closing track, making the next song the other guy’s problem
(if you’re reading this on Facebook and want to hear this mental tune – just click here)
Breathe – This Week’s New Tune
I started trying to make an electro house track, but just like every other time I started making electro, the track went in a different direction. There are still elements of my original idea in here (the lead synth which I named Let It Ride – listen and you’ll hear why) but the track is still a lot more mellow that I originally intended, despite clocking in at 128BPM.
The track was produced fully using Reason with a heavy reliance on the fantastic Thor polysynth.
