OEMPRO is Email Marketing software from Octech. It is a low cost option for setting up your own email server right on your server, even if it is shared. If you decide to go this route, you will need some way to actually get your emails off the server. You can choose from a number of options. The one I prefer to use is SMTP.com (great prices, great service) but for smaller projects, I often use my local MTA or Mail Transfer Agent.
This will use the sending functionality that already exists on your server (sendmail; qmail; etc) and with most hosting providers, you won’t need to set up anything. If you are using shared hosting with cPanel, simply enter the following line in the destination box and you should be ready to start sending right away.
Of course, sending with your Local MTA means that you are subject to the rules imposed by your hosting provider. If there is a hourly limit to the number of emails you can send, then you will need to stay within those limits. Check with your hosting provider, as your mileage may vary.
Sending email in OEMPRO with your Local MTA is not the solution for someone looking to do high volume email marketing, but if your business has a small list and you don’t want to pay any monthly costs or for every contact, then using your local Mail Transfer Agent might just be the right option for you.
Caveat: For those considering this as their first foray in to email marketing, you should know that when sending emails yourself (vs using a provider) you must make sure that your email authentication (SPF, SenderID,DKIM,DMARC) is up to scratch, or you will run in to delivery problems with most of the major ISPs.
