My blog broke ages ago - I couldn’t even tell you exactly how long ago because I stopped really paying attention to it. And also because the configuration in AWS was just way too intimidating.

I started using AWS for domain registration and hosting in 2018, and then used their BitNami Wordpress plugin/adon/thing to host the blog. It started off fairly simply and easy enough for even me to understand. And it was also cheap relative to other hosting packages.
But as AWS got more features added, it because harder for a filthy casual like myself to even navigate the product, let alone use it. Couple this with Bitnami being bough by VM Ware and enshitifying that product, and things got very bad.
Eventually this was what greeted anyone who visited my blog:

That was despite me still paying 14 per month for my tiny (nano, actually) EC2 instance and the associated piping.
Bitnami, instances, S3, Glacier, EC2… don’t want to deal with any of it any longer. After a while it all started to feel like a bunch of messy wires all haphazardly connected in a way that is a bit of a fire hazard.
I’ve pulled the plug, moved everything to Quotion and hopefully they’ll stay in business long enough for me to never care about this ever again.
I’ll still probably get around to downloading a backup of my old posts and then re-posting them as Apple Notes. Or maybe I won’t.
No one was reading them anyhow and the world seemed to be doing just fine without them.
So, thank you to the good people at Quotion for making this SO EASY and hopefully it stays that way.
Cheers
